Applique problem

Hello. My machine is a Toyota Quilt 50.
It has build in stiches for applique, embroidery and quilts.

I was trying to attach one fabric to another using the applique.
(It was the stich that looks like letter E but with many more -)
The instructions said I should place my cut applique design on what I want to attach to it, set it to the stich ... it also set I have to stop and turn at the corners... however the machine did not move.
If I pulled the material then it moved but it wasn't even.

I have tried changing the foot pressure (I have an option to set it between 1 and 3) and generally I should have it at 3 and set it up to 1 for thinner fabrics.
