Default Re: Using a credit card to ease french seam through pleater

I tried it and, though I clearly need to see it done, the bishop seams were much improved. A friend of mine saw it in a workshop done by Gail Donne. I'll post it as soon as I actually learn it.

My pleater may have a slightly bent gear. (That's one person's diagnosis) It does not like double thickness or bishops at all. The result is that I've only done a couple of bishops in a long while, mostly pleated on my daughter's pleater (and she's four hundred miles away.) The Easter bishop dress I'm doing did get pleated on my pleater and my not-so- talented attempts at the credit card helped a lot. I'd also learned from an AS&E issue how to pop in a new needle when one breaks without having to start all over. Between that and the credit card, the dress was pleated.
