Making a headboard + wadding advice

Ah, foam! That hadn't occurred to me! I just went and had a poke at my very old headboard, and that is clearly made from foam, now I know. Many thanks to you all

However, I have difficulties with chemical sensitivity, and ideally I wouldn't be using fresh foam, especially as it's going to be sited next to my head all night long. If only I could afford latex foam.... So, I think I may go back to the idea of using layers of wadding, at least then I can use cotton or bamboo, or something very clean of chemicals. Mind you, I can't imagine it will be as comfy. Hmm. More thinking required.
