Sounds like my husband, John's grandmother's house. I remember the first time I went there. It was wonderful! When she passed away, I managed to get some of her various magazines, all of which have long since been out of print. Our house is populated with all sorts of things she knit, crocheted, embroidered, etc which she gave us when we were married and then bought our house. 1950's stamped all over the place. It's becoming the in thing here in California now, only it's "retro". The 50's saw an enormous housing boom here as all the servicemen who'd been stationed in the Pacific fell in love with the weather and moved here from the east coast. Now those houses are being sold as "mid century"houses and are being fixed up "retro". Hard to think of myself as "mid-century" (I was born in 1947) though of course I'm that and plus!
