Default Pre-shrinking Fusible Interfacing

I have decided to venture into the world of fusible interfacing again. I detested using the stuff many years ago in the late 70's but it seems to be quite popular with members so thought I'd give it a second chance. Perhaps the reason fusible interfacing and I didn't get along together was that I didn't pre-shrink it, I didn't know I had too!

So, what I'd be interested to know is what method do you all use to pre-shrink fusible interfacing, do you wash it by hand, in the machine, etc?

Also, I can't remember back to the 70's, must be an age thing . Do you iron it onto the fabric with a dry iron or with steam
