Default Sewing Machines Direct

I am planning to buy an overlocker. I have been to look at them in some local shops & have looked online. The best deal I have found is at sewingmachinesdirect.co.uk
I have read good things on this site about sewing machines direct but I just want to check before I go ahead that this is correct. One of the things attracting me is the 5 year warranty. Has anyone had to use this & was it honoured? A local shop offered a 5 year warranty for £35 whereas this one is no extra charge.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I bought a sewing machine with a 10 year warranty from sewing machines direct a few months ago. Had a problem with the foot controller as it jammed on when i put my foot down. When I called them they were fantastic. Had a new one delivered within a couple of days.

My personal experience has been good.

Hope that helps.

You're supposed to register for the extended warrenty within 30 days - I found my card this week, six months later

I've bought from these guys but haven't had to use the warranty yet. The service was great from them though and I always recommend them to everyone.

I have bought a machine and overlocker form them and am impressed by the service and products. Although I have not had to contact them with any issues I have read posts on here when people have and they seem happy enough with the service.

I have three machines from them and several of my ladies have also bought from them. Russell is really helpful and has even 'fixed' my overlocker over the phone!!

A friend had a problem with one of her machines that she bought from them and it was fixed and sent back to her in no time.

Thumbs up Re: Sewing Machines Direct

I too can only recommend this company and the wonderful Russell. I bought my new sewing machine and overlocker from them and had some missing feet from the sewing machine package - Russell had them in the post the very day I called. I'd happily buy other items from them (and have, - specialised feet and a large table for my Brother).

Hi there,

I've just bought an overlocker from sewing machines direct, they seem very helpful.

Just some info however which I hope will help people as it caused me lots of stress!!!- I couldn't get the machine to overlock properly for ages and I re-threaded it a million times to check I had done it properly.

I called sewing machines direct and they said to try some different threads (I was given 5 complimentary boxes when I bough the overlocker). I tried my own threads and it was fine.

Turns out they've had some problems with the threads (frister +rossman). Parts of the threads were varied in thickness which caused problems with the machines. (I had used the black coloured threads, which apparently have been causing more of a problem than the white).
This is only a case with some of the threads but just thought I would let people know in case they had a similar problem and though there was something wrong with the machine. I only wish I had thought of changing the threads sooner. They are now resending some other threads!
