Default What exactly is 4-step buttonhole

Hi all

I am stuck between buying a machine with a 1-step button hole function and one with a 4-step buttonhole.

I can see how the 1-step machine works (there is a foot you attach that measures the size of the button then the machine gets to work automatically making a hole to fit it!)

What is involved in the 4-step buttonhole? It it much more bother to do? I'm guessing you have to sew each of the 4 sides one at a time, measuring your button beforehand to make the hole will fit? Is it all a bit fiddly and difficult to get right?

Thanks

Leah
