Default Janome DC3050 - stretch stitches

I bought a DC3050 off patioslab a couple of months ago now, and love it! However, I am still finding my way around it, and have a question as to the best stitch to use for stretch fabrics. I'm hoping that some of you who also own the machine might be able to help...

My mum's old Jones VX561 (on which I've learnt to sew) uses an overlock stitch for stretch fabrics. The analogy on the 3050 seems to be stitch setting 12. I used what they term 'stretch stitch', number 5, on my last jersey project but it took what felt like a very long time to sew a seam because its maximum stitch length is 2.5 . For 'triple stretch stitch', number 18, does one need multiple top threads?

Given that my current project is in stretch satin and involves multiple long seams (well over a metre each!), what would you recommend? What gives the nicest finish (outside or in) in your opinion?

Thanks in advance!
